WOMEN ARRESTED ON ANZAC DAY

A Sydney Anzac Day march mourning the rape of

women in war resulted in the violent arrest of 168 participants. The arrestees were later charged with "serious alarm and affront". The arrest of seven women followed a similar action in Melbourne, while in Canberra, women marched with no arrests.

PROTECTION FUND FINANCIAL help for those charged with offences where sexuality is in any way an issue will be available from a defence fund set up by a community meeting in Sydney last month. The Lambda Legal Defence Fund arose out of the need to provide backup to those arrested in the recent Club 80 raids. The arrestees will have first call on the Fund.

IMPROVED VACCINE FOR HEPATITUS B NEW York male homosexual population has contributed largely to the production of the latest and safest vaccine being used in the fight against Hepatitis B. A national advertising program is now being conducted in the US to advise

sexually active people of the need for regular medical checks and the availability of the vaccine. However, government regulations here may prohibit the launching of such a precautionary campaign in Australia.

MILKS' LOVER DENIED BENEFITS A San Francisco judge, recently ruled that Scott Smith, lover of the late Harvey Milk, was not entitled to benefits normally given to the dependents of city employees killed on the job. The judge's decision was made on the ground that Smith had not been living with Milk for the years prior to his assassination. Page 14
